It does have a synthetic feel, especially in the base, and it lacks the complexity and refinement of the original. For those on a budget who want something similar without the investment, Maison Alhambra's Roman V will suffice. Just don't expect perfection. ### Notes & Nuances Roman V by Maison Alhambra aims for Amouage's Opus V, and it gets reasonably close, perhaps 90% there. The opening has that prominent, almost powdery orris root, but the boozy rum note feels a bit dialed down, replaced by a slightly sharper, alcohol blast. The heart maintains the floral theme - rose and jasmine are present, but less naturally rich compared to the inspiration. The drydown attempts the oud and woody accord, but it smells synthetic, bordering on harsh; the civet adds a dirty edge, but feels forced. Overall, a decent attempt. ### Longevity & Projection This won't break the bank, but don't expect beast mode. Projection is moderate for the first hour or two. After that, it settles closer to the skin. Longevity is about 5-6 hours on my skin. Reapplication is needed to keep it projecting."
