Atlas Coral blasts out of the gate with a citrus accord reminiscent of lemon-scented cleaning wipes, a far cry from the nuanced bergamot in Poggia. The peach is there, but it has the cloying sweetness of canned fruit cocktail in heavy syrup. As it dries, the rosemary attempts to cut through the initial sugar rush, mingling with a slightly indolic ylang-ylang. I get a ghost of Turkish rose, more like rosewater than a freshly bloomed flower. The drydown is where it significantly deviates, landing on a synthetic musk with a prominent vanilla bean note that feels disconnected from the bright opening. I detect a faint, salty ambergris accord, but it struggles to emerge from the other dominant notes.

To Buy or Not to Buy?

Wearing Atlas Coral is like viewing a blurry photograph of Poggia. The general outline is there, but the intricate details are lost. You get a similar vibe, especially in the opening stages, but the depth and richness of the original are missing. What's gained is a loud, sweet composition with a more pronounced vanilla drydown; what's lost is the refined balance and the authentic ambergris nuance that made Poggia special.

The Performance Stats

On my skin, Atlas Coral persists for a solid six hours, with projection extending about one arm's length for the first two hours. I tested it during a brisk walk in moderate weather and found the vanilla musk became somewhat amplified in the warmth, leaning towards an almost plasticky sweetness.
