The Scent Profile
Salty Breeze opens with a peculiar, almost musty ambrette, not quite the clean musk it should be. The salt is there, but it reads more like the stale brine clinging to old fishing nets than a crisp sea spray. The sage in the heart attempts to cut through the initial murk, but its herbaceous quality is strangely subdued, leaning towards a faint, dusty potpourri. The drydown reveals a seaweed note that's unfortunately reminiscent of synthetic aquatic accord from a cheap body spray, underscored by a grapefruit that smells akin to grapefruit rind left out in the sun, slightly fermented. There is a similarity to Wood Sage & Sea Salt in its concept, but the execution lacks the airy brightness and naturalistic feel of the original.
The Verdict
This scent is for the individual drawn to coastal aesthetics but perhaps lives far from the shore. Picture someone who decorates their apartment with seashells purchased from a chain store, listens to whale sounds on repeat, and yearns for the ocean but settles for a lukewarm bath with a sea salt scrub. They're looking for tranquility but find themselves in a slightly artificial, somewhat melancholic space.
The Performance Stats
Longevity is surprisingly persistent, clinging to skin for around 5-6 hours. However, projection is minimal; it stays very close to the skin, barely extending beyond a single arm’s length. Tested during a humid afternoon walk, it became cloying and amplified the artificial seaweed note.
