Bentley Absolute aims for the austere sophistication of Gucci Pour Homme I, and it gets respectably close. The initial blast of papyrus and ginger is present, though a touch more synthetic, a sharper edge where Gucci was smooth. The heart leans heavily into dry cedar and a whisper of pink pepper. The incense is the anchor, just like in the original. You'll notice leather and amber in the final dry down, but this is the main difference. Bentley Absolute has a sweeter amber that wasn't present in the original Gucci. I'd place it around 95% similar. Close, but not exact.

Wear time & Sillage

Projection is moderate for the first hour, creating a personal bubble of woody incense. After that, it settles into a skin scent. Longevity is quite good, though. I get a solid 6-8 hours. A few extra sprays compensate for the projection if you want to make a statement.

If you crave the ghost of Gucci Pour Homme I and don’t want to spend a fortune hunting down vintage bottles, Bentley Absolute is a worthy substitute. There is a slight synthetic feel that is noticeable if you compare the two, but most people would not be able to tell them apart. The vibe it projects is still the same: a quietly confident individual with an appreciation for the finer things.
