How it Smells
Pure Addiction comes on strong with that familiar saffron and jasmine combo, trying its best to mimic Baccarat Rouge. It's about 91% there in the opening. The sweetness is present, but it has a slightly sharper, more synthetic edge compared to the smoother, almost spun-sugar quality of the original. The heart leans heavily into the amberwood, which gives it a woody backbone, and the ambergris adds a salty mineral feel. Dry down is where it veers off a bit. The fir resin and cedar come through stronger, making it slightly more masculine and less airy than MFK's masterpiece.
Is it Worth It?
If you're on a tight budget and want a Baccarat Rouge vibe without the hefty price tag, Pure Addiction is a solid option. It's not a perfect dupe, that synthetic edge keeps it from true glory, but it captures the essence well enough. If owning the *exact* scent profile and luxurious experience is essential, stick with Baccarat Rouge. Those with sensitive noses might find the opening a little too abrasive.
The Performance Stats
Projection is pretty decent for the first two hours; people will notice you. Longevity is surprisingly good . I get around 6-7 hours on my skin, which is perfectly respectable. It becomes more of a skin scent after the initial projection fades.
