Olfactory Experience
Dakota opens with a pronounced rhubarb note; tart and slightly vegetal. The lychee is present, contributing a sweetness that softens the bergamot's initial zest. It aims for Delina's fruity rose, but the synthetic quality of the rhubarb is immediately noticeable. The heart features a dominant Turkish rose accord, supported by peony and a noticeable vanilla. In Delina, the rose is more natural, less candied. Here, the vanilla is amped up, smoothing some rough edges but sacrificing complexity. The drydown consists of a musky base with cashmeran adding a soft, woody warmth, and a whisper of vetiver. Dakota captures roughly 85% of Delina's DNA. The main difference lies in the ingredient quality.
Longevity & Projection
Longevity is moderate. I get around 5-6 hours on skin with moderate projection for the first 2 hours before settling closer to the skin. On fabric, it lingers longer, about 8 hours. It projects a noticeable scent bubble, but won't fill a room. Decent performance .
Is it Worth It?
Dakota offers a good approximation of Delina . If you crave Delina's rosy, fruity profile but find the price prohibitive, this is a worthwhile alternative. The synthetic edges are present, but not overwhelmingly harsh. It’s a good option for everyday wear.
