To Buy or Not to Buy?
Wearing Ansaam Gold is like opting for a vibrant, slightly fuzzy photograph of a meticulously painted portrait. You get the general idea, the colors are there, but the finer details and delicate brushstrokes are lost. It offers a similar experience, but with a boldness that sacrifices some of the sophistication found in its inspiration. It's a decent substitute, but not a perfect match.
Notes & Nuances
Ansaam Gold bursts forth with a candied orange peel note, not quite photorealistic. The citrus has a hard candy shell, a bit like those orange slices your grandma used to keep in a crystal dish. The heart unfolds with a potent, almost overwhelming orange blossom backed by a tart, almost fermented raspberry. It leans heavily into the sweetness, like concentrated raspberry jam. The drydown is where the whipped cream and marshmallow attempt to smooth things over, but there's a plasticky vanillin that clashes with the fruit. Compared to Oriana, this is louder, less refined, and misses the airy, ethereal quality of the original.
Longevity & Projection
I get a solid 6-7 hours of noticeable longevity, with projection that extends about an arm's length for the first couple of hours before settling closer to the skin. I wore this on a casual Saturday running errands. I can see this being cloying in high heat, I wouldn't dare wear this to the gym.
