Bottom Line
If Hayaam were a movie character, it would be the overly enthusiastic, slightly clumsy intern trying a little too hard to impress the boss.
Olfactory Experience
Hayaam bursts open with a vibrant, almost astringent green accord. It's less like a lush forest and more like freshly cut grass clippings mixed with a splash of grapefruit cleaner. The bergamot is sharp and tangy, edging into industrial lemon territory. The heart softens slightly, revealing a camphoraceous patchouli note intertwined with dry cedar shavings. The jasmine is a whisper, thankfully subdued. As it dries, a persistent musk emerges, alongside a generalized "woody" impression reminiscent of pencil shavings. The amber adds a touch of warmth, but the overall effect leans towards synthetic and somewhat screechy, particularly in the opening. It definitely deviates from the original's complexity, opting for a streamlined, simplified interpretation.
How Long Does it Last?
Longevity is surprisingly decent, clocking in at around 6-7 hours on my skin. Projection is moderate for the first two hours, extending about an arm's length, before settling closer to the body. I wore this during a busy day running errands and found it held up well in both indoor and outdoor environments, although the initial sharpness might be overwhelming in close quarters.
