How it Smells

Lattafa's 1886 tries its best to be Dior Homme Intense, and gets surprisingly close – I'd say about 92% there. The opening lavender and bergamot are present, though a touch more synthetic than Dior's smoother rendition. The iris heart, the star of DHI, is clearly present, powdery and slightly lipstick-like. The pear note is a subtle addition here. Where it differs is the base. 1886 has a noticeable, and slightly harsher, leather note that comes forward quicker than in the original, losing some of DHI's creamy woodiness. It's still iris-dominant, but with a touch more ruggedness.

Projection Power

This is where 1886 shines . It projects moderately well for the first 2-3 hours, leaving a pleasant scent trail. Longevity is solid, hovering around 6-7 hours on my skin. Definitely more than enough for an evening out. Don't expect beast mode, but it performs respectably, especially considering the price point.
