To Buy or Not to Buy?
Mayar is a very good dupe for Angel Nova, especially if you’re on a budget. If you want *that* specific patchouli note, stick with the Mugler. However, if you enjoy the fruity-rose DNA and don’t mind a slightly woodier finish, Mayar is a fantastic daily driver. It's office-appropriate, date-night friendly, and won’t break the bank. Mayar offers excellent value.
How it Smells
Mayar comes right out swinging with a juicy raspberry and lychee combo. It's aiming for Angel Nova's vibe, and it gets pretty close – maybe 88%. That initial blast is fruity, almost candied, but there's a slight synthetic edge compared to the OG. The damask rose pops up quickly, adding a floral sweetness. Where it differs is in the drydown. Angel Nova has that patchouli backbone; Mayar uses Akigalawood, which is woodier, spicier. The benzoin adds a touch of vanilla-like warmth but doesn't fully replicate Nova’s unique patchouli profile.
Performance Reality Check
the performance is solid. I get around 6-7 hours on skin, projecting moderately for the first 2 hours before settling closer. It's definitely noticeable without being a room-filler. A great work scent if you work in a climate-controlled environment.
