How it Smells
Lavande opens with an unexpected candied violet, eclipsing any initial lemon zest I hoped to detect. It borders on medicinal, evoking a strong cherry cough syrup aroma rather than the clean citrus sparkle of its inspiration. The heart attempts to emulate a complex floral arrangement with lavender as the cornerstone, but the geranium asserts itself too aggressively, imbuing a metallic tang. The rose is muted, nearly undetectable beneath the geranium's clatter. As it settles, the base exposes a significant divergence. Instead of the smooth, ambery tonka bean promised, I perceive a sharp, coumarin overdose. The drydown has a plasticky quality that isn't overtly unpleasant, but does impart a synthetic, slightly acrid sensation that persists. This clone misses the original's nuanced transitions; it's a coarser interpretation.
Is it Worth It?
This fragrance finds its niche in casual daytime scenarios where subtlety is desired. It might be appropriate for a relaxed brunch setting, or even a trip to a botanical garden. Its casual and light scent profile would be out of place during formal evening engagements.
The Performance Stats
On my skin, Lavande persisted for approximately five hours, with the initial projection extending just beyond arm's length for the first hour. Subsequently, it receded into a close skin scent, discernible only upon close inspection. I tested it during a moderately warm, indoor setting.
