First Impressions & Dry Down
The initial blast presents a decent lavender, though lacking the natural herbaceous quality. It's more of a candied lavender, almost edging into bathroom cleaner territory before the rosemary attempts to steer it back to a fougère accord. The neroli is present, but subdued, lacking the bright, citrusy sparkle of a higher quality formulation. The heart is where the deviation becomes more pronounced. The geranium offers a metallic tang, not unlike old pennies, which clashes somewhat discordantly with the herbal clary sage. The galbanum offers a needed green bitterness. Where the original possesses a smooth, refined character, this leans towards an unpolished sharpness. The drydown is a woody affair, the cedar dominating with a pencil shavings quality that feels somewhat synthetic. The oakmoss attempts to ground it but is muted and lacks depth. Vetiver is barely detectable.
The Verdict
This is a daytime scent, best suited for spring or early autumn. It leans towards casual settings, perhaps an outdoor lunch or a casual Friday at the office. Due to the synthetic character in the base, formal occasions are not recommended.
Wear time & Sillage
Longevity hovers around 5-6 hours on skin. Projection is moderate for the first hour, extending about an arm's length, then quickly retracts to a skin scent. Tested in a controlled indoor environment at 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
