Scent Breakdown
Wicked Legend opens with a blast of synthetic sea notes, reminiscent of chlorinated pool water rather than the vast ocean. The grapefruit presents as a candied rind, lacking the natural bitterness and zest. A discernible sea salt note attempts to add complexity, but falls short with a chalky, mineral edge. The heart reveals a muted bay leaf, devoid of its herbaceous character. Instead, a generic spice accord emerges, leaning heavily towards a cinnamon potpourri with a slightly medicinal geranium undertone. The drydown is where the divergence from its inspiration becomes most apparent. The red amber, though present, registers as a cloying sweetness, bordering on burnt sugar. The guaiac wood offers a smoky facet, but lacks depth and comes across as a simple, linear wood accord, reminiscent of pencil shavings.
Projection Power
On my skin, Wicked Legend lasts approximately 5-6 hours. The projection initially extends to about one arm's length, but quickly diminishes to a skin scent within an hour and a half. Tested in both indoor and outdoor environments during moderate temperatures, the performance remained consistent.
Is it Worth It?
This fragrance is best suited for casual daytime wear during the spring or early summer months. The sweetness of the amber and synthetic aquatic notes may become overpowering in warmer temperatures. Its limited projection makes it suitable for situations where a subtle fragrance is preferred, such as running errands or a quick trip to the grocery store.
