Olfactory Experience
IRIDA blasts off with a candied cherry note that teeters dangerously close to children’s cough drops. The ginger is present, but more of a whisper than a shout, lending a slight spiciness but not enough to cut through the initial sweetness. The heart introduces a syrupy jasmine; thick and almost cloying, though not indolic. It deviates quite a bit from its inspiration in the base, relying heavily on a clean musk and an almost chemical pink pepper that gives a metallic tinge. The ambrettolide adds a slightly powdery texture but can't mask the synthetic edge of the overall composition.
Longevity & Projection
I got about four hours of noticeable projection, extending just beyond arms' reach for the first hour. After that, it sits close to the skin for another two before fading into a faint, musky whisper. I wore it during a daytime shopping trip and found it a bit too saccharine for warmer weather. It performs better in cooler, air-conditioned environments.
The Verdict
If IRIDA were a character, it would be Regina George’s younger sister; desperately trying to emulate her older sister’s queen bee status, but ultimately falling short with a plasticky tiara and a sticky, cherry-flavored lip gloss.
