First Impressions & Dry Down
Khair by Paris Corner is clearly aiming for Imperial Valley. The opening hits you with a boozy davana, the bergamot is there, but it’s playing second fiddle. Pink pepper adds a needed bite. The mid is where it deviates. The white amber isn't as smooth as in the Gissah, and you get more of a medicinal rosemary note. The oud is present, but it’s a less refined, slightly synthetic version. The base is a familiar musk and vetiver combo with a hint of leather, but the overall effect is a bit rougher than the original. I'd say it's 92% similar, missing some of the luxurious smoothness of Imperial Valley.
Projection Power
Longevity is decent. Expect around 6-7 hours on skin. Projection is moderate for the first hour, then settles closer to the skin. Not a beast, but you'll get noticed if someone's near you. Given the price point, it's acceptable.
Final Thoughts
Khair is a good budget alternative to Imperial Valley. If you’re obsessed with the original and demand absolute accuracy, save your pennies. However, if you want a very similar scent profile without breaking the bank, Khair is a solid option. It has some synthetic edges, but they are forgivable at this price. Khair provides a decent approximation for everyday wear. Buy it if you're on a budget.
