Notes & Nuances
Tobacco Rouge opens with a potent blast: cinnamon and saffron dominate. The oud here is a supporting player, thankfully not overpowering. It's immediately apparent this leans heavily on the sweeter aspects of Red Tobacco. Mancera's original has a sharper, almost medicinal quality in the opening; this is smoother, rounder. The heart brings in a muted patchouli. Jasmine is present, but buried under the spice and tobacco. The drydown is where this clone shines. The tobacco note is well-executed, a sweet, slightly cherry-esque pipe tobacco. Vanilla from Madagascar adds creaminess. Amber provides a warm foundation. I'd rate the resemblance to Red Tobacco at roughly 91%. The main difference lies in that opening sharpness, which is significantly toned down here.
Longevity & Projection
Performance is surprisingly robust. I get 8+ hours on skin with noticeable projection for the first 3-4. It fills a room without being obnoxious. On clothing, it lingers for days. Expect to be noticed.
Bottom Line
Tobacco Rouge is a well-executed clone, hitting the key notes of Red Tobacco without replicating its harsher edges. If you find the original Mancera challenging, this might be a more palatable alternative. it's an excellent value. This is a safe blind buy for anyone who enjoys sweet tobacco fragrances. Recommended for cooler weather.
