First Impressions & Dry Down
Trillium opens with a bright, citrus-forward blast. Grapefruit and lemon are prominent, mimicking Elysium's initial freshness reasonably well. However, the bergamot lacks some of the original’s nuance; it presents slightly sharper, leaning synthetic. The heart features vetiver, but it's a cleaner, less earthy iteration than the Roja Dove. Juniper berries provide a pleasant, gin-like touch. The black currant is subtle, adding a slight fruity sweetness, but it lacks the distinct character found in Elysium. The base attempts to replicate the ambergris and leather accord, but the ambergris is clearly a synthetic approximation. It’s a touch too sweet. The leather has a suede-like quality, softer than the original. Overall, it captures about 91% of Elysium's DNA.
Is it Worth It?
Trillium by Paris Corner is a respectable clone of Elysium. It won't fool a seasoned nose, but it's a great alternative for those seeking the general vibe without the hefty price tag. If you value photorealistic natural ingredients, stick with Roja Dove. However, for a daily wear, budget-conscious option that captures the bright, fresh essence, Trillium is a solid choice. But for most, Trillium provides satisfactory performance for the money.
How Long Does it Last?
Longevity is moderate. Expect around 5-6 hours on skin. Projection is initially strong for the first hour, then settles closer to the skin. It's not a powerhouse. A decent performer, considering the price point.
