To Buy or Not to Buy?
Wearing Voux Violette versus Accento is like choosing a watercolor painting over an oil painting. Both are visually appealing, but the watercolor lacks the richness and texture of the oil. With Voux Violette you get a sweet, powdery, and undeniably pleasant scent. What’s lost is the sophisticated nuance and longevity of the original.
How it Smells
Voux Violette starts with a juicy burst of pineapple, though it leans more candied than fresh. The hyacinth adds a slightly soapy floral tone, but it's quickly overshadowed by the powdery iris at the heart. This isn’t a photorealistic iris, think more cosmetic compact powder. The jasmine is present, but subdued, blending into the iris. Pink pepper gives a needed sparkle, preventing it from becoming too stuffy. The base is a mix of clean musk, a somewhat grassy vetiver, and a warm amber, all of which meld together smoothly. Compared to the Xerjoff, Voux Violette is missing some of the original's depth and complexity. It's smoother, less sharply defined.
Wear time & Sillage
I get about 6-7 hours of wear, with projection extending about an arm's length for the first two hours. It settles closer to the skin after that. I wore it to the office and found it pleasant and inoffensive. Tried it at the gym, and while it lasted through my workout, the sweetness became a little cloying in the heat.
