First Impressions & Dry Down
Tabarome Impression opens with a citrus blast, yes, but more akin to concentrated orange cleaner than a sun-ripened bergamot. The ginger tries to peek through, but it's immediately muted by an overwhelming synthetic tobacco note. This isn't the refined pipe tobacco of a seasoned gentleman, more like the stale, acrid smell of cigarette butts left out in the rain. The drydown is where it most noticeably deviates; sandalwood appears as a vague, powdery sweetness battling against an artificial ambergris that leans uncomfortably close to salted play-doh. Any resemblance to the inspiration is purely coincidental, a shadow cast by a similar list of ingredients interpreted through a plastic filter.
Conclusion
If this scent were a character in a movie, it would be the knock-off action figure you find at a discount store, vaguely resembling the hero but ultimately disappointing.
How Long Does it Last?
Longevity is surprisingly robust, clinging to skin for around 6 hours. Projection, however, is nuclear for the first hour, projecting at least two arm lengths, before quickly collapsing into a skin scent. I tested it during a brisk walk in cool weather and found the artificial nature of the tobacco note becomes even more pronounced in the cold.
