Our objective metric for performance per dollar.
The Scent Profile
This Moustache clone opens with a surprisingly bright bergamot, though quickly overshadowed by a pepper note that leans more medicinal than spicy - think antiseptic gauze. The heart introduces a leafy, almost vegetal patchouli and a faint whisper of lily-of-the-valley. It diverges significantly from the original in the base; the vanilla is more prominent, but has a slight chemical undertone; and instead of a creamy ambergris, there's a generalized sweet amber accord and wisps of incense that smell like a recently extinguished barbeque. There’s a somewhat scratchy, woody aroma that lingers in the drydown.
Wear time & Sillage
Longevity is respectable at around six hours. Projection is moderate, extending to about an arm's length for the first two hours before settling closer to the skin. I wore it on a chilly evening walk and later while reading. The projection softens considerably after the first hour, becoming more of a personal scent bubble.
The Verdict
Wearing this clone is like listening to a cover band playing your favorite song. You recognize the tune, but something’s missing. There’s a certain richness and seamless blending in the original that this simply can't replicate. What's gained is a similar vibe, but what's lost is the refinement and depth that makes the original so compelling.
