The Verdict
This fragrance is best suited for cooler weather, specifically autumn days. Its powdery quality makes it more appropriate for daytime wear, but only in casual settings. The synthetic nuances prevent it from being suitable for formal occasions or professional environments where a more polished scent is desired.
Notes & Nuances
The opening blasts out with a noticeable, slightly harsh lavender mixed with something akin to cedar shavings, rather than the advertised Brazilian Rosewood. There's a muted herbal edge from the clary sage, but it’s fighting to be heard. The heart attempts rose, geranium, and jasmine, but the result is a powdery floral accord with a faint metallic twang. The drydown becomes a dusty, vanillic sandalwood, with a damp earthiness from the patchouli. It's less refined than its inspiration, with some rough edges and a slightly artificial feel. It leans heavily on powdery sweetness instead of balanced woodiness.
Projection Power
I get about 5 hours of wear time with this one. Projection is moderate for the first hour, extending to about an arm's length, then quickly settles into a skin scent. I tested it at the office and found it faded into the background, almost unnoticeable by lunchtime. It did survive a light workout at the gym, but just barely.
