Gained? A similar profile at first spray. Lost? The comforting warmth, the refined elegance, and the overall feeling of quality. It mimics the general vibe, but it misses the subtle complexities that make the original so captivating.

First Impressions & Dry Down

This opens with a dusty caraway seed pod mingled with rough-ground black pepper, far less effervescent than expected. The saffron adds a metallic tang, like licking a copper coin. The heart brings a boozy vanilla, think dark rum poured over pipe tobacco, though a persistent medicinal cherry cough syrup note lingers underneath. The cinnamon is dialed back, almost undetectable. As it dries, a sweet, creamy tobacco dominates, underpinned by a suggestion of lavender air freshener, which unfortunately introduces a plasticky synthetic edge. It veers away from the original’s refined warmth, presenting a more blunt, less nuanced interpretation.

Longevity & Projection

Longevity is impressive, clinging to the skin for a solid 7-8 hours, although the character shifts dramatically after the first few hours. Projection is initially strong, radiating a good arm's length, but it quickly settles into a closer, more intimate bubble. I tested this during a cold evening walk and a night out at a bar. It performed better in the bar setting, where the synthetic elements were less noticeable in the crowded atmosphere.
