First Impressions & Dry Down

Azure Royal kicks off with a potent blast of grapefruit, leaning more towards grapefruit rind than juicy pulp. There's a slight sharpness that's quickly tempered by the mandarin, adding a whisper of sweetness. The heart introduces a green bitterness from the galbanum, almost vegetal, intermingling with a powdery ambrette seed. The base of amberwood asserts itself early, giving it a woody backbone, but a synthetic leather accord rises, giving it the effect of new car interior. Compared to its inspiration, it lacks the refined smoothness, instead presenting a more straightforward, less nuanced composition. The absence of ginger is notable, making it a tad less invigorating.

The Verdict

If Azure Royal were a character in a movie, it would be the eager, slightly less polished understudy stepping in for the leading man. He's got the charisma but lacks the refined training.

Performance Reality Check

On my skin, Azure Royal lasts a solid 7-8 hours. The projection is moderate; it stays within an arm's length for the first few hours before settling closer to the skin. I wore it during a busy workday – from commuting to office meetings – and it held up well without becoming cloying. It's versatile enough for most daytime occasions.
