Detour Eco opens with a forceful clary sage and lavender accord, immediately recognizable but possessing a slightly rougher edge than its inspiration. The bergamot is fleeting, almost undetectable beneath the herbal onslaught. The heart introduces a saffron note that leans heavily into a leathery profile, diverging from the smoother, sweeter praline-centric core of Haltane. Instead of confectionary delight, there is a distinctly bitter almond presence. The base is where the separation widens. The oud is present but synthetic, presenting a rather medicinal, almost band-aid aroma. The cedar is dry and pencil-shaving-esque, contributing to a rather austere and somewhat unbalanced finale.

Performance Reality Check

Longevity is moderate, clocking in at around six hours on my skin. Projection is initially strong, reaching about an arm's length for the first hour before quickly settling closer to the skin. I tested this in an indoor office environment and found its aggressive opening to be somewhat distracting to colleagues.
