The Scent Profile
Okay, so Al Haramain's Detour Noir Exclusif is aiming for Layton, and it gets pretty close. The opening is a blast of that signature apple and bergamot. You get the lavender kick too. It's not quite as smooth or natural-smelling as Layton, maybe 70% there in the opening and you can detect some sharper synthetic edges.. The heart brings in the florals – geranium, violet, jasmine – but the vanilla starts creeping in early, which makes it a bit sweeter and heavier compared to the original. The drydown is where it leans more vanilla-patchouli than the woodier Layton finish.
Wear time & Sillage
This stuff lasts. Seriously. Expect a good 8-10 hours. Projection is moderate to strong for the first 3-4 hours, then settles closer to the skin. It will leave a scent trail. It’s a beast .
To Buy or Not to Buy?
It's a great daily driver for cooler weather. The synthetic edge is noticeable up close, but in the air, it smells fantastic. If you want to save a bundle and still smell great, grab this one. A perfect grab for any college student on a budget.
