Olfactory Experience
Oud Wafa opens with a forceful saffron and nutmeg accord, quickly joined by a recognizable lavender note. The initial blast leans slightly harsher compared to Initio's Oud for Greatness; a sharper, almost medicinal quality is present. The heart attempts to replicate the original's agarwood profile, but lacks the same nuanced depth. Here, the synthetic oud aroma is most apparent. Patchouli emerges in the drydown, attempting to ground the composition. A white musk accord adds a clean, if somewhat generic, finish. Ultimately, it achieves approximately 90% similarity to its inspiration. The primary difference lies in the ingredient quality; the smooth, almost creamy oud of the original is absent, replaced by a more angular, synthetic approximation.
How Long Does it Last?
Longevity is moderate, clocking in at around 6-7 hours on skin. Projection is initially strong, filling a room for the first hour, before settling into a more intimate scent bubble. Expect compliments, but don't expect it to last all day without reapplication. The synthetic edge is noticeable, especially to those familiar with the original. However, it's a respectable offering. Ideal for casual wear or for individuals new to oud fragrances. However, if budget is a primary concern, Oud Wafa provides a passable alternative.
