To Buy or Not to Buy?
Look, this isn't Dior Sauvage. It’s a very good *impression* of Sauvage. If you crave that scent profile but choke at the Dior price tag, this is a viable option. It won't fool anyone who knows the original intimately, but for the casual wearer, it gets the job done. But if you just want to smell "Sauvage-like" on a budget, this is a solid, cost-effective choice. A great grab for a gym scent or daily driver.
First Impressions & Dry Down
Ard Al Zaafaran's "Sauvage" is... ambitious. The bergamot opening is a decent attempt, mimicking the bright, citrusy pop of Dior's Sauvage. There's a noticeable pepperiness, maybe a touch sharper, less refined. The heart tries for that signature Sichuan pepper and lavender combo, but it leans more generic "spicy." It lacks the smooth, almost creamy quality found in the original. Ambroxan dominates the drydown. It's there, it’s loud, but it's definitely a more synthetic, harsher ambroxan than what Dior uses. I'd say it captures about 75% of the Sauvage vibe.
Longevity & Projection
This clone performs surprisingly well . Expect 5-6 hours of noticeable projection, then it settles closer to the skin. It's not a beast, but it’s respectable. Don't expect all-day performance; reapplication is necessary.
