Notes & Nuances
Club de Nuit Urban Man tries its hardest to be Mr. Burberry, and mostly succeeds. The opening is where the similarities shine. You get that grapefruit and cardamom blast – a refreshing start. However, it's noticeably sharper and more synthetic than the Burberry, less refined. The heart shifts into a woody territory with cedar and birch leaf, but the nutmeg is dialed back. The drydown is a decent attempt at the vetiver, guaiac wood, and sandalwood base, but it lacks the smoothness and sophistication of the original. I'd say it gets about 91% of the way there.
The Verdict
Club de Nuit Urban Man is a solid grab. If you love the Mr. Burberry DNA but can't justify the cost, this is a viable alternative. It's not a perfect clone. You will notice the slightly synthetic edge, particularly in the opening. But is Mr. Burberry worth 5-10 times the price? Absolutely not. This is a good option for everyday wear. If you're new to fragrances and want to explore this style of scent, this is a good starting point without breaking the bank.
Longevity & Projection
Performance is decent. On my skin, I get around 5-6 hours of noticeable projection within arm's reach, then it fades to a skin scent for another couple of hours. Not bad . Don't expect all-day performance like some pricier options though.
