Olfactory Experience
Ego Exotic opens with a blast of candied orange peel and a slightly indolic jasmine that struggles against a syrupy peach accord. It evokes orange blossom air freshener more than fresh flowers. The heart attempts to mimic a floral bouquet but falls short, presenting a muddled tuberose note alongside a generic "rose" essence reminiscent of rose-scented soap. The drydown is where this truly falters; a cloying musk overwhelms any trace of the promised praline, leaving a plasticky, artificial sweetness that lingers unpleasantly. Compared to its inspiration, this lacks the airy, refined character. The depth and complexity are missing, replaced by a linear and ultimately tiring sweetness.
To Buy or Not to Buy?
This fragrance is best suited for someone who enjoys intensely sweet, uncomplicated florals and doesn't mind a synthetic edge. It's perhaps ideal for a young person who's drawn to bold, attention-grabbing scents and prioritizes initial impact over nuanced development. Perhaps someone who favors sugar-sweet body sprays and wants to experiment with something stronger.
How Long Does it Last?
Longevity is surprisingly decent, clinging to skin for about 6 hours. Projection, however, is powerful for the first hour, easily filling a room with its initial saccharine blast. After that, it settles closer to the skin. I wore this during a casual brunch, and while initially pleasant, the sweetness became overwhelming by the end.
