Bottom Line
Hunter Killer Bullet is a commendable attempt at replicating Red Tobacco. If you crave that DNA but are on a tight budget, this is a worthy substitute. The synthetic edges are noticeable, but not deal-breakers. But for a quick and dirty fix of that spicy-sweet tobacco profile, this will certainly do the trick. Buy this if you value budget over ultra-refinement.
How it Smells
Hunter Killer Bullet aims for Red Tobacco, and hits... close. The opening is a blast of synthetic cinnamon, somewhat sharper and less nuanced than Mancera's richer spice blend. The oud is present, but dialed down, lending a woody backbone rather than a fecal punch. Saffron adds a metallic tang. The heart shifts to a patchouli-jasmine accord, a touch medicinal compared to the smoother floral sweetness of Red Tobacco. The base reveals a sweet tobacco note, blended with a noticeable vanilla and amber. The vanilla here is simpler, almost plasticky at times. Overall, I'd estimate this is 70% similar to Red Tobacco. The main difference lies in the ingredient quality; this lacks the depth and complexity of the original.
Longevity & Projection
Projection is beastly for the first two hours, filling a room easily. Longevity is respectable, lingering on skin for 8-10 hours. However, the drydown becomes somewhat monotonous, dominated by the synthetic vanilla.
