Olfactory Experience
Skin Couture Classic Men initiates with a potent mango accord, not the fresh, juicy kind, but rather a concentrated mango nectar, bordering on overripe. The tangerine attempts to cut through the sweetness, adding a slight citrus zest, however, the sage note imparts an unexpected herbaceous bitterness. The heart presents a jarring juxtaposition. The promised lemon is fleeting, dissolving quickly into a medicinal wormwood note that dominates, smelling sharply camphoraceous. This deviates noticeably from the intended target. The base attempts to ground the composition with sandalwood, but reads more as a synthetic sandalwood facsimile, creating a creamy but somewhat plasticky foundation. The tonka is present, adding a subtle coumarin sweetness, while the patchouli offers an earthy anchor, but it struggles against the synthetic overtones, resulting in a discordant drydown.
Performance Reality Check
Longevity is moderate, clocking in at around 5-6 hours on skin. Projection is initially strong, extending to approximately an arm's length for the first hour before settling closer to the body. Tested in an office environment, the scent profile proved somewhat cloying after extended wear.
Is it Worth It?
If this scent were a character in a movie, it would be the slightly off-key, try-hard villain who attempts sophistication but ultimately reveals a lack of depth and composure.
