First Impressions & Dry Down
ÉCLAT 637 attempts to mimic Prada L'Homme, and the initial impression is...close, but not quite a bullseye. The neroli is present, though with a citric harshness more akin to lemon cleaner than a smooth, natural bloom. Black pepper is subdued, thankfully, but the cardamom is replaced with a generic "spice" accord. The iris heart aims for that powdery refinement, yet lands closer to baby wipes. Geranium struggles to cut through the powdery blanket, while the mate adds a grassy bitterness that feels out of place. The base is where it truly diverges. The cedar is a vague woody note and the amber is less smooth resin and more ambroxan scratch. The patchouli is almost non-existent, resulting in a flat, somewhat plasticky drydown.
Is it Worth It?
Wearing ÉCLAT 637 is like listening to a cover band play your favorite song. You recognize the melody, but it lacks the artistry and nuance of the original. You get the basic framework of Prada L'Homme, but with a significant decrease in quality. What's gained is a fleeting reminder of a superior scent, but what's lost is the luxurious texture and sophisticated depth that makes the original worthwhile. This is a passable imitation, suitable only for casual wear when longevity and impact aren't priorities.
Performance Reality Check
On my skin, ÉCLAT 637 offers a weak showing. It lasts approximately 3-4 hours. The projection is minimal, barely extending beyond arm's length for the first hour before quickly retreating into a skin scent. I wore it during a mild day at the office, and by lunchtime, it was essentially gone. A respray is undoubtedly needed.
