"For You Sir" attempts to capture the refined aura of Pour Monsieur but lands somewhere in the vicinity, not directly on the bullseye. The initial blast is a potent lemon cleaner note, sharp and slightly artificial, that lacks the sophisticated nuance of the original. The petitgrain is present, adding a bitter green edge. The heart offers a fleeting warmth from the ginger and cardamom, but a discordant coriander note emerges quickly, bringing a slightly medicinal quality into the mix, like herbal cough drops. The drydown is where the imitation falters most noticeably. The oakmoss is a pale, synthetic imitation - more like damp cardboard than earthy depth - sitting atop a cedar note that leans heavily toward pencil shavings, with a whisper of vetiver that’s easily lost.

Bottom Line

This is a daytime scent, best suited for spring and fall. Its robust projection in the first hour might make it suitable for casual outdoor settings, like a park visit. However, the slightly cloying drydown makes it less suitable for intimate settings or situations where subtlety is key.

Performance Reality Check

Longevity clocks in at a respectable 5-6 hours, but the projection is initially quite strong, filling a room, before quickly retreating to a skin scent after an hour. Tested in both an office and outdoor environment. It fares better indoors, where the sillage isn't dispersed too quickly.
