Is it Worth It?
If you're looking for an affordable way to experience the Oud for Greatness DNA, Khadlaj's La Fede Oud for Kings is a decent option. It's not a perfect clone, and the synthetic edges are noticeable up close, but the overall impression is similar enough to satisfy the craving. it’s a great daily driver for cooler weather. This gets you close enough without breaking the bank. Good for evenings out or making a statement at the office.
Notes & Nuances
La Fede Oud for Kings jumps right in with a blast of saffron and nutmeg. It's a bit sharper and less rounded than Initio's Oud for Greatness, maybe 92% similar in the opening. The lavender is present but subdued, just a touch of floral sweetness. The oud in the heart is the star, but it leans slightly more synthetic and medicinal compared to the smoother, almost creamy oud in the original. The drydown is a familiar blend of patchouli and musk, creating a warm, slightly earthy base. It lacks the depth and complexity of Oud for Greatness as it dries.
Performance Reality Check
This stuff projects! You'll get noticed. It's not beast mode, but it's solid for the first 2-3 hours. Longevity is respectable; I get a good 6-7 hours on skin, and it lingers longer on clothes. Don’t overspray, it could become cloying.
