Le Prestige Royal opens with a distinct hibiscus note. It's less photorealistic than Hibiscus Mahajad; slightly more candied, edging towards synthetic, but nonetheless present. The rose weaves in and out, less prominent than the hibiscus, adding a powdery sweetness. The heart introduces cinnamon with a noticeable ambrette seed facet that creates a textural, almost grainy feel. This clone diverges most noticeably in the base. The vanilla is amplified, sweeter and creamier, lacking the nuanced depth of the original's. The leather is present but remains a background player. The mint note is subtle, offering a fresh counterpoint, but barely registers on my skin. Compared to Hibiscus Mahajad, I’d estimate this at 95% similar. The original's superior ingredient quality grants it a smoother, more sophisticated profile.

The Verdict

Le Prestige Royal is a competent clone. It captures the general essence of Hibiscus Mahajad, but sacrifices some of the original’s refinement for a sweeter, more synthetic profile. If you crave the hibiscus-rose-cinnamon combination and cannot justify the price of Maison Crivelli, this is a worthwhile alternative. However, fragrance enthusiasts who demand high-quality ingredients should stick with the original. The original boasts a complexity this clone simply can't replicate, but the price difference may make Le Prestige Royal appealing to casual wearers.

How Long Does it Last?

Longevity is moderate. I get about 6 hours on skin, projecting moderately for the first 2 hours before settling closer. On clothing, it extends to approximately 8 hours. The projection is decent initially but weakens considerably after the opening phase.
