Lovely Chérie opens with an assertive, candied cherry, reminiscent of cherry cough drops rather than fresh fruit. The bitter almond is present, but fleeting, quickly overshadowed by a boozy accord leaning heavily on synthetic amaretto. The heart attempts to introduce a sour cherry note, yet reads more as a generalized red fruit jam with a hint of rosewater. Absent is the nuanced depth; this is a blunt, unlayered sweetness. The base presents a tonka bean impression, but it's far from the smooth, vanillic character expected. Instead, it carries a rough, almost Play-Doh-like quality.
