Final Thoughts
If Toscano Leather were a character, it would be a used car salesman dressed in an imitation leather jacket, trying too hard to impress.
Olfactory Experience
Toscano Leather opens with an intensely synthetic saffron blast, like opening a jar of cheap, dyed leather. There’s a whisper of thyme, quickly overtaken by a gasoline-like olibanum that dominates. The heart attempts leather but comes across as vinyl car seats baking in the sun. A fleeting floral note of jasmine peeks through, battling the overwhelming plastic. The base shifts to a powdery suede accord, reminiscent of old books in a dusty attic, but underpinned by a persistent amber sweetness that feels out of place. It attempts the original’s decadent leather, but falls short by delivering a harsher, less refined take.
Wear time & Sillage
Longevity is surprisingly tenacious, clinging to skin for 7-8 hours. Projection is initially strong, filling a room within the first hour, then settling to about an arm’s length. I tested this during a chilly autumn afternoon and found the sweetness cloying after a few hours.
