Crafted Oud opens with a prominent cardamom note; it’s bracing, but lacks the nuanced green spice found in Thameen's Carved Oud. The pink pepper is more assertive here, almost screechy, and the cypriol introduces an earthy, gasoline-tinged facet. Not unpleasant, but definitely a sharper opening. The heart reveals a dry cedar accord, layered with a dusty patchouli. The iris is dialed back, lending only a powdery texture rather than the creamy orris butter of the inspiration. Base notes consist of a synthetic musk, sandalwood, and amber mix, creating a generic "woody amber" accord. It mimics the general direction of Carved Oud, achieving approximately 89% similarity. The quality differences are apparent when smelled side-by-side; this lacks the refinement and smoothness of the original.

How Long Does it Last?

Projection is moderate for the first hour, creating a noticeable scent bubble. After three hours, it becomes a skin scent. Longevity averages around 5-6 hours on skin, extending slightly longer on clothing. This is adequate but unimpressive.

The Verdict

Zaffiro Collection Crafted Oud is a passable alternative to Thameen's Carved Oud. However, for those seeking the superior ingredients and blended elegance of the original, the increased cost is absolutely justifiable. This is a good clone for a casual user, but a discerning nose will quickly notice the differences.
