Scent Breakdown
Regale kicks off with a sharp lemon – less juicy, more like lemon cleaning wipes. The saffron and cardamom in the heart try to warm things up, adding a spicy sweetness, but there's a cloying jasmine note that undercuts the effect, lending a somewhat medicinal undertone. The leather in the base is prominent from the start, not refined or supple, more like freshly tanned rawhide. The promised vanilla is very subdued, acting only as a slight softening agent. The animalic notes are present, but it's a clean musk, not the funky barnyard kind. It differs from its inspiration in its lack of smoothness; the original is blended to perfection, while Regale has rough edges.
The Verdict
Regale is best suited for cool weather outings where you want a distinctive leather presence. This isn't a subtle or intimate fragrance. The rough leather and spicy elements make it suitable for casual events or nights out; definitely a solid choice for a rock concert or a lively bar.
Performance Reality Check
This one hangs on for a solid 7-8 hours. Projection is moderate, extending a comfortable arm's length for the first couple of hours before settling closer to the skin. I wore it during a busy work day and then out for dinner; it held its own in both environments.
