The Scent Profile
Okay, so Le BonBon Intense nails the Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait vibe pretty well. That initial blast is immediately recognizable: a sweet, almost medicinal saffron mixed with the slightly bitter almond. It’s potent, though maybe a touch more synthetic than the MFK original. The jasmine and cedar in the heart keep it from being overly sugary. The drydown is where it veers a bit. You still get that signature ambergris warmth, but the woody notes come forward more aggressively here, giving it a slightly rougher edge compared to the smoother, more refined Extrait. I'd say it's 95% there.
Performance Reality Check
Montagne generally does a good job with performance, and this is no exception. I get a solid 7-8 hours on skin, maybe a bit longer on clothes. Projection is pretty loud for the first couple of hours, leaving a noticeable scent trail. Then it settles closer, but still detectable. One or two sprays max. Any more and you’ll gas everyone out.
Bottom Line
It’s a fantastic daily driver for the office or casual wear, especially in cooler weather. Unless you’re a die-hard collector or require ultimate refinement, this clone gets you 95% of the way there . Recommended for anyone who wants to smell expensive without breaking the bank.
