Scentonym Analysis
Our objective metric for performance per dollar.
Is it Worth It?
North Star is a solid budget alternative to Bleu de Chanel. It’s not a 1:1 dupe, but it gets you in the ballpark. If you're on a tight budget and love the BDC vibe, this is a worthwhile pickup. However, if you demand the absolute best quality and smoothness, the original Chanel is still king. If you are ok with a clone, you can buy this! If you need to wear the real thing, save up.
First Impressions & Dry Down
Natural - North Star opens with a decent grapefruit and lemon blast, mimicking Bleu de Chanel's citrusy freshness. The mint is a bit more pronounced here, slightly sharper and less rounded than the original. The heart leans into the ginger and nutmeg, providing a warm, spicy core, but the jasmine feels a little restrained. The drydown aims for that incense and sandalwood base, and while it gets close, there's a noticeable synthetic amber note that distinguishes it from the smoother, more refined Chanel. I'd say it captures about 80% of BDC's DNA, but with some rougher edges.
Wear time & Sillage
Longevity is moderate. I get about 5-6 hours on my skin. Projection is decent for the first hour, creating a nice scent bubble, but then it settles closer to the skin. It's not a powerhouse, but it's respectable point. Expect to reapply if you want to keep it going all day.
