Taraf Black opens with a decent saffron note, a little sharper and less rounded than Arabians Tonka. The bergamot is fleeting, offering a slight citrus lift before the rose-oud combo barges in. The rose leans synthetic, a common issue with clones, lacking the luxurious depth of the original. The drydown is where it gets closest: a sweet, woody tonka bean base. It mimics Arabians Tonka's signature sweetness, but trades the smooth, natural amber for a slightly harsher amberwood. I'd say it captures about 80% of the original's DNA.

Longevity & Projection

This stuff projects! Two sprays are enough to announce your presence. Longevity is impressive; I get a solid 8 hours on skin, and it lingers on clothes for days. However, the projection does dial down after the initial 2 hours, settling into a noticeable scent bubble.

Final Thoughts

Taraf Black offers incredible value. Is it as refined as Arabians Tonka? No. Does it smell similar enough to satisfy the craving for that sweet, rosy oud scent? Absolutely. (often 1/5 to 1/10 the cost), it's a steal. Just be mindful of the trigger – it's strong. This is a fantastic budget option.
