To Buy or Not to Buy?
If you want the Interlude Man experience on a tight budget, Afnan Supremacy Incense is a solid choice. It's not *identical*, and the synthetic edges are noticeable, especially in the opening and the oud note. But for the massive price difference (we're talking 10x less), it's hard to complain. This is for those who love powerful, incense-heavy scents and aren't afraid of a bold statement. Is the original worth the extra money? If you demand the absolute best and can discern the subtle differences, then maybe. For everyone else? This is a smart, cost-effective alternative.
Olfactory Experience
Supremacy Incense aims squarely at Amouage's Interlude Man, and it gets surprisingly close... . The opening blast is potent – oregano and pepper definitely punch through, but the bergamot feels a little less refined, a bit more synthetic than the original. The heart develops with a heavy dose of incense and amber, which is where it shines. It’s smoky, resinous, and brooding. The base of leather, oud, and sandalwood attempts the same dark, complex dry down. However, the oud here is noticeably less nuanced; more of a blunt force than a subtle evolution. It’s about 95% of the way to Interlude Man.
Performance Reality Check
This thing is a beast. Seriously. Expect 8+ hours easily, with strong projection for the first 3-4. You will fill a room. Careful on the trigger; two sprays is likely enough. It definitely outperforms some pricier fragrances.
