Final Thoughts
If you crave Greenwich Village but can't justify the Bond No. 9 price tag, Antares is worth considering. It captures the overall vibe. Understand, though, that you're sacrificing some of the original's refinement. It's a good dumb grab for everyday wear. Is Greenwich Village ten times better than this? Absolutely not. If you’re okay with a slightly less polished, sweeter drydown, save your money and buy Antares.
Notes & Nuances
Antares hits you with a fruity-sweet opening – litchi and cassis are the stars. It's bright, but a little synthetic at first. Greenwich Village has a smoother, more natural fruitiness. The heart is floral, peony and jasmine mostly. Here, Antares stays fairly close to the original. The drydown is where the biggest difference lies. Greenwich Village leans into a creamy, woody patchouli. Antares goes heavy on the ambroxan and praline, making it sweeter and more generic. It's probably 90% similar overall. The biggest deviation is that slightly harsh opening and less complex base.
The Performance Stats
This is where Antares shines. It lasts a solid 6-7 hours on my skin. Projection is moderate for the first two hours, then settles closer to the skin. Not a beast, but respectable. the performance is genuinely impressive.
