Scentonym Analysis
Our objective metric for performance per dollar.
Is it Worth It?
If you crave the Baccarat Rouge vibe but can't stomach the price, Barakkat Rouge 540 is a solid alternative. The synthetic amberwood is noticeable, particularly if you're familiar with the original, but the overall effect is pleasing. This works for the individual who appreciates a sweet and woody scent but wants something a little bolder, less refined. For everyone else, Barakkat Rouge will scratch that itch nicely.
How it Smells
Barakkat Rouge 540 opens with a distinct saffron blast – bright, almost medicinal, married to a sweet jasmine. The jasmine here is less photorealistic, more of a candied impression. This is about 88% of the way to Baccarat Rouge. The heart leans heavily into the amberwood, giving it a synthetic warmth and a slightly scratchy texture missing from the original's smoother ambergris. The drydown is where it deviates most, a cedar and fir resin pushing forward, creating a slightly sharper, more masculine finish. The musk is present, but subtle.
Longevity & Projection
Expect about 6-7 hours of noticeable wear. Projection is moderate for the first two hours, then it settles closer to the skin. It creates a pleasant, sweet bubble, but won't fill a room like the extrait version of the original. Decent, considering the price.
