Bottom Line
Cherry Buzz is for the individual who appreciates a loud, sweet cherry scent but isn't overly concerned with nuance or longevity. Someone who enjoys statement pieces and wants a fragrance that makes an immediate impression, even if that impression fades relatively quickly. This fragrance is best suited for casual, short outings where a bold, playful scent is desired, like a night out at a bustling bar or a quick visit to the local fair.
The Scent Profile
Cherry Buzz opens with a blast of candied cherry, almost medicinal, like cherry-flavored cough drops left in the sun. The ginger attempts to cut through the sweetness but instead adds a spicy sharpness that clashes. Jasmine Sambac emerges in the heart, thankfully tempering the initial syrupy sweetness, lending a touch of floral elegance. However, it's fleeting. The drydown is where this diverges significantly. A harsh pink pepper note dominates, underpinned by a somewhat acrid musk that feels synthetic and papery. The ambrettolide attempts to soften it but is ultimately overpowered. The resemblance to its inspiration is there in the opening, but the lower quality ingredients become obvious as it develops.
The Performance Stats
Longevity is moderate, clinging to the skin for around 4-5 hours. Projection is initially strong, easily projecting beyond arm's length for the first hour, then quickly settling into a skin scent. I tested this during a day of running errands. The initial sweetness was cloying in the car, and the drydown became somewhat grating by the afternoon.
