A medicinal cardamom hums beneath, lacking the effervescence of the original. The mango emerges in the heart, but it’s closer to a canned variety in heavy syrup than a fresh, juicy Ataulfo. The ginger adds a welcome spicy kick, battling the syrupy sweetness. As it dries down, a mineral vetiver emerges, grounded by a synthetic ambergris, leaning towards a plasticky peach skin scent. The differences from its inspiration are stark; this lacks the refined complexity and leans into a more gourmand, slightly synthetic direction.
