Olfactory Experience
Midori opens with a blast of tart green apple – reminiscent of a freshly mowed lawn sprinkled with citrus. The bergamot and mandarin are there, but subdued, playing second fiddle to that dominant, almost aggressively green apple note. It's about 80% of the way to Greenley's opening. The heart shifts towards a slightly woody, slightly powdery experience thanks to the petitgrain, cashmeran and cedar mix. The cashmeran is dialed up here, giving it a softer, less sharp feel than its inspiration. The dry down features that ever present ambroxan note, giving the impression of a modern and clean musk, and I appreciate the Oakmoss is there to remind you of the original dna.
Performance Reality Check
Longevity is surprisingly good. I get a solid 6-7 hours with moderate projection for the first 2 hours, settling closer to the skin after that. it outperforms expectations. It isn't a beast mode fragrance, and that's okay.
Is it Worth It?
Midori captures the essence of Greenley, but with a slightly synthetic edge, especially in the opening. The added cashmeran softens the fragrance creating a smoother feeling, for better or worse. If you crave the Greenley vibe but can't stomach the price tag, this is a solid option. Midori provides a very similar experience . This is for the guy who wants to smell clean and fresh without trying too hard. Perfect for the gym, the office, or a casual brunch. A safe blind buy if you enjoy fresh green scents.
