Prohibit Rouge opens with a recognizable pear accord, albeit a slightly sharper, more candied version than the L'Interdit EDP it emulates. The bergamot is present but fleeting, serving more as a textural brightener. The heart is where the similarities become more apparent. Tuberose dominates, followed by orange blossom and jasmine. However, the floral blend lacks the creamy smoothness of the original, revealing a somewhat synthetic edge. It's approximately 86% similar in this phase, but the lower quality ingredients become noticeable upon closer inspection. The drydown reveals a predictable patchouli, vanilla, and ambroxan base. The patchouli is earthier than in L'Interdit, lending a slightly masculine feel.

The Performance Stats

The initial projection is quite strong, filling a room for the first hour. After that, it settles closer to the skin. Expect moderate longevity, around 5-6 hours. Subsequent wearings revealed a tendency for the vanilla note to become somewhat cloying in warmer temperatures.

Prohibit Rouge is a decent attempt at capturing the essence of L'Interdit. If you enjoy the L'Interdit DNA but find the price point prohibitive, this clone offers an acceptable alternative. Just be aware of the synthetic nuances and reduced complexity. For a casual, everyday wear, Prohibit Rouge offers a reasonable approximation.
