Olfactory Experience
SOIR by Fragrance World is shooting for that warm amber glow of Grand Soir, and it gets pretty close. The opening leans heavily on that sweet, almost honeyed labdanum. It's not quite as refined as the MFK, maybe a touch more synthetic in the initial blast. The heart is all benzoin, that cozy, resinous vanilla-like note. The drydown is where the similarities shine; a comforting blend of tonka bean, vanilla and amber. It's maybe 82% of the way to Grand Soir; you get that same addictive, sweet amber warmth, but with slightly rougher edges.
Longevity & Projection
This clone performs! I get a solid 6-8 hours on my skin, with moderate projection for the first few hours. It's not a beast mode fragrance, but it creates a nice scent bubble. You'll get noticed, but you won't clear a room. the longevity is surprisingly good.
Final Thoughts
The original is undoubtedly smoother, more nuanced, and higher quality. Is it ten times better? Absolutely not. This is perfect for cooler evenings, date night, or any time you want a comforting, slightly sophisticated scent. If you are new to fragrance or on a budget, pick this one up.
